Baltic Amber

Amber deposits have been found that range between 360 thousand to 1 million years old.  As sticky resin oozed from ancient pine trees, small insects, plant material, feathers and other small objects in the path of the flow became entrapped.  Over time, through a process of heat and pressure, the resin fossilized to become amber.  Amber increases in value with the rarity and perfection of the entrapped object.  Amber can range in color from dark brown to a light, almost clear lemon yellow which takes longest to form.

For commercial purposes, some amber is reconstituted as beads, but those do not have the trace elements captured inside.  We use natural, polished pieces.

Amber is very soft, between 1-1/2 and 3 on Mohs scale (diamond is 10) and can be scratched easy, therefore we do not encourage amber rings.  Please clean them with a damp soft cloth when needed.

We import our amber from the Baltic region of Poland.
